Malmo – Museums

Malmo Museum

This museum offers a wide range of Nordic artefact and is located at Malmohusvagen in the heart of Malmo city, surrounded by canals. The oldest surviving Renaissance castle, a real submarine, aquarium and more are all on display at this museum. The permanent exhibitions focus on history, science, natural history, technology and seafaring content. While a museum today, the location actually became a temporary refugee camp in 1945 at the end of World War II as a place of refuge.

Moderna Museet Malmo

This museum features modern and contemporary art and is part of the state owned Moderna Museet. It was formally opened in 2009 and houses a building that was originally a power plant established in 1901. Visitors will enjoy exhibitions focused on Scandinavian and international art from the 20th and 21st centuries, including works by Dali, Kandinsky, Matisse and Picasso.  Entry into the museum is free of charge.
