Previous known as the Fyris river, this body of water passes directly through the centre of Uppsala. Visitors can enjoy dining at various locations along the riverfront while being treated to beautiful year-round views. A popular location is Akanten, located just below the Cathedral. Boats can be seen sailing up the river between Lake Malaren and central Uppsala.
Built between 1654 and 1676, this castle is now a state museum and houses a variety of artefacts including paintings, books, furniture, weapons and other interesting pieces. Built in Baroque style, it is considered a monument to the Swedish Age of Greatness during the 17th century. The armoury contains a wide range of global exhibits, including muskets and pistols, Japanese samurai swords, cannons, crossbows and more.
