Uppsala – Places of Worship

Uppsala Cathedral

Located at Uppsala University and next to the Fyris river, this church was consecrated in 1435 and is built in gothic style architecture. It is open daily from 8am to 6pm and dominates the city skyline of Uppsala. It is also the largest church in Scandinavia and is the burial site of many Swedish royals. Admission to the church itself is free, while the on-site museum is available for view at a small fee.

Danmark Church

First attested in 1291, this church is located just outside of Uppsala, approximately 8 km from the city centre. It features a variety of frescos by Johannes Rosenrod and Albertus Pictor, with its weathercock being from the late 19th century.
